Dealing with change in the workplace

At one time or another, most of us experience significant change in our work environment. There are many factors that can kick-start the process of change at work, including a rise or fall in profits, new owners, a new MD or a new team manager, and a merger with or acquisition of another company. All can result in restructuring and reorganisation, which usually have an effect on internal procedures, job descriptions and opportunities for progression within the company. Drastic, far-reaching change can be difficult for employees to swallow, particularly if they are creatures of routine, and have worked in the same way for a long period of time. However, change doesn’t have to be a painful process – if you focus on the potential gains instead of the losses, you might find that workplace change can benefit you more than you realised.
