BASED NORTH LONDON
SALARY to £50,000circa+ Bonus (up to 10%) + Excellent Benefits

Founded in the 1940’s and as the world leading company in their field, my client is a major supplier of medium and high value engineered components for rotating equipment manufacturers. With a strong global presence, there growth in recent years is unprecedented and projections suggest that such trends will continue for years to come.
The position of Key Account Manager is an integral part of the sales & marketing effort as well as the engineering effort. The prime objective of the role is account management of key customers and the development of new business opportunities. General responsibilities will include dealing with the commercial aspects of inquiries and orders and increasing profitability and market share through interaction that results in products being designed into customer machine applications. Typically, order values are in the region of £30kcirca, but bespoke solutions may be as high as £1m plus. Specific duties will include:
1. Identify and satisfy customers’ requirements, especially the major accounts. Regularly check and report on level of customer satisfaction.
2. Actively call-on and develop close working relationships with customers and end users where appropriate. Present, explain and promote company products.
3. Identify potential applications and customers, develop a good knowledge of customers’ product lines and find high margin opportunities for company products that lend themselves to our technical strength. Get company products written into equipment specifications.
4. Identify pertinent influencing contacts within the account. Develop contacts at all levels of the account’s organization (Purchasing, Plant, Engineering, Sales & Marketing, Field Service). Customer Intimacy is the primary value discipline at company.
5. Obtain competitive information related to the account in general or specific projects. Determine procurement sequence from specification through to order placement.
6. Prepare and submit significant quotations to customers basing prices on current policy. Follow up open proposals, negotiate and close orders. Report status on a regular and timely basis.
7. Be the customer advocate within the company whilst leading the team in conflict resolution with your accounts.
8. Monitor account profitability and initiate, recommend or participate in efforts to improve margins while maintaining share. Manage and maintain price lists at key accounts.
9. Prepare and keep up-to-date sales forecasts by account, and assist in development of bottoms-up and tops-down forecasts for overall business.
10. Involve other company departments as necessary to participate in projects and customer satisfaction improvements.
11. Maintain liaison with the US office on different matters (commercial, manufacturing, quality) where they relate to your accounts.
12. Assist Finance with the resolution of any outstanding payment issues.
13. Be prepared to run latest calculation software as required.
14. Work on project teams as assigned.
15. Work on continuous process improvement.
16. Assist with training of others.
17. Deputise for colleagues in whatever capacity is required.
Person Specification
Education: Qualification in Business or Marketing strongly preferred.
Excellent written and spoken English / German are essential.
Mechanical Engineering degree or other base qualification is desirable.
Computer literate (Microsoft Office suite)
Essential Experience: A minimum of five (5) years experience in a sales / sales engineering role is required.
Desirable Experience Sales and / or engineering experience in turbo-machinery applications (pumps, compressors, turbines, transmissions, gearboxes etc.)or other heavy rotating equipment components / assemblies. Experience of working with EPC´s
Industry experience is likely to have come from automotive, power generation, oil and gas sectors or similar
Other languages that may be of interest include in order of preference: Finnish, Japanese, Spanish, Italian, Russian
