The Sitec group are currently recruiting for a prestigious global manufacturer of industrial Diesel engines and Earth moving equipment and are seeking a Development Engineer for a Contract Position to be based in their offices in Peterborough.
The Emissions (After treatment) team are responsible for the design, development and validation of after-treatment solutions required to meet current and future emissions regulations around the world. The successful applicant will work with a dedicated team to introduce Tier 4 Final and EU Stage 4 capable systems for core 1200 series products. These engine and aftertreatment systems are used in a wide range of machine, industrial and electric power applications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Emissions (After-treatment) Development Engineer will be primarily responsible for the mechanical development and validation testing of exhaust components and sub-systems. This includes, responsibility for testplan development, progress tracking, post test analysis and failure/issue resolution both for internal and also supplier based testing,
This role will specifically deal with the Diesel Emissions Fluid (DEF) systems on IPSD products. The development engineer is responsible for the specification and performance verification of the system and it’s sub-components against product technical objectives. The position reports directly to the Aftertreatment Team Leader, but requires extensive cross-functional liaison with key suppliers, IPSD Engineering Systems, GED-UK and the Product teams.
Functional tasks include: · Provide technical input to component and sub-system FMEAs · Track and close-out mechanical development design, testing, analysis activities of after-treatment components both in house and at supplier sites · Support internal engine system development and validation testing · Support project team with critical development issue resolution · Close liaison with design colleagues, CAE, Performance & Emissions, NVH and Materials Departments
KEY COMPETENCIES: The successful candidate must be able to work on their own initiative to deliver to challenging timelines, and have the ability to confidently interface with both internal and external suppliers.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Degree or Equivalent Experience · Relevant proven experience in mechanical development of components or systems · Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in multi-functional teams Desirable: · Engine and/or Aftertreatment design and/or development experience, in particular Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems · Experience in other fluid delivery and control systems would also be valuable · Structured problem solving including 6 Sigma and 8D methodologies (Green Belt preferred) · Previous experience interacting with internal / external customers and suppliers |
